Christian Fiedler was born in 1970 in Regensburg and came to Bamberg at the age of nine. He attended the Kaulberg Primary School and finished his school years passing his Abitur at the Kaiser-Heinrich-Gymnasium in Bamberg. After completing his military service he studied Geography and Communications and Demographic Science at Bamberg University. In 2002 Christian Fiedler received a doctorate in Geography.

The idea for this book arose in Spring 2003. After more than a year’s research the manuscript was finalised. 

The author is still searching for pictures and written material to complete his collection concerning Bamberg’s brewing history.
